George Barbine

Litigation Attorney
george@bcarlsonlaw.com

George is a determined and tenacious advocate whose practice focuses primarily on high-conflict custody cases, complex issues related to property and high net worth divorce cases, court martial, non-judicial punishment, and administrative cases involving the Uniform Code of Military Justice and military regulations, and cases requiring Qualified Domestic Relations Orders or Military Retired Pay Division Orders. He is licensed to practice law in Alaska.

George joined Carlson Law Group in 2024. Prior to joining the firm, George retired as a First Sergeant after 20 years of service in the United States Army. During his service, George served with the 75th Ranger Regiment, as an instructor with the U.S. Army’s Ranger School, and earned a B.A. in English, with a Concentration on Writing from American Military University, where he graduated magna cum laude. After retiring from Army, George chose to enter the legal profession. He first gained experience by working as a family law paralegal in Alaska before earning his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2024. George has a passion for representing survivors of domestic violence. He honed these skills while working as a supervised attorney with the Domestic Violence Institute in Boston while attending Northeastern.

As a parent with primary custody himself, George understands the stress and impact divorce cases have on every member of a family—especially when children are involved. He uses a client centered and trauma informed approach in his cases to help guide his clients through what is one of the most stressful periods of their lives. In his military related cases, George uses his decades of experience and research into military regulations to ensure that those who defend the rights of all citizens have theirs honored as well.

As part of the distributed team at Carlson Law Group, George lives in Underhill, Vermont with his wife and two daughters.

The Carlson Law Group came highly recommended from the Alaska Attorney Referral Service to deal with a stalking issue. I was immediately impressed with the fact that they returned my phone call right away and we were able to quickly get down to business. We were assigned Patrick Phillips as counsel and he devoted his full attention to our concerns. His attention to detail in our preparation was impeccable. During the telephonic hearing he was obviously well prepared and skillful in his presentation, cross examination, and ability to object to opposing counsel when necessary. I give Patrick Phillips and the Carlson Law Group my highest recommendation. Without a doubt they are the BEST legal counsel I have ever had the pleasure of retaining.

Brad and Marshall are excellent attorneys. In my opinion, Carlson Law Group is the best lawyers that I have had. The State brought charges against me for conduct that did not happen the way the State claimed it to have happened. Brad and Marshall listened to my situation, carefully reviewed all of the evidence in my case, drafted motions to have the charges reduced, and worked with the prosecutors to help me achieve an agreement that would allow me to keep my job and support my family. Overall, I am very, very pleased with Carlson Law Group. I highly recommend this law firm!
